Overview
This policy explains what data Podscape collects, how we use it, and the choices you have. We use only what we need to run the app and we don't sell your personal data.
1. What we collect
When you create an account we collect your name, email address, and (if you sign in with Google or Apple) the identifier your provider returns to us.
While you use the app we collect basic usage signals — episodes you played, shows you followed, things you saved, search queries, listening progress — so we can keep your library in sync across devices and personalize the home feed.
We collect device and app-version information along with crash and performance logs so we can fix bugs.
If you opt in to push notifications we store the push token your device gives us so we can send them.
2. What we don't collect
We don't collect precise location, your contacts, your microphone audio, or anything outside the app.
We don't sell your personal data. We don't share it with advertising networks. We don't build a profile of you to sell elsewhere.
3. How we use your data
To run the app — your library, your follows, saved moments, listening position, and home feed.
To send you push notifications about new episodes from shows you follow, but only if you've opted in.
To improve the app by aggregating usage data so we can see what works.
To respond to support requests and detect abuse.
We will not email you marketing without your consent.
4. Push notifications & email
Push notifications are opt-in via your device's system prompt. You can change which ones you receive at any time in Profile → Notification preferences, and you can turn them off entirely in your device settings.
We send transactional email for things like account verification, password reset, and security alerts. These aren't optional because they're tied to keeping your account safe.
5. AI-generated transcripts and insights
To create transcripts, chapter markers, and episode summaries we send episode audio to a transcription and AI provider. The resulting text is stored against the episode and shown to every listener — it's not personal to you.
We do not feed your private notes, saved moments, or search queries into model training.
6. Third parties
We use a small set of providers to run Podscape: cloud hosting and database for the app and your account, transcription and AI providers to generate transcripts and summaries, Apple Push Notification service (APNs) and Firebase Cloud Messaging (FCM) for push delivery, an email provider for transactional email, and the sign-in providers you use (Google, Apple).
Each of these processes data on our behalf and is bound by its own terms. We don't sell your personal data to anyone.
7. How long we keep data
We keep your account data for as long as your account is active. When you delete your account, your personal data is removed from our active systems within 30 days. Backups may retain a copy for a short additional period — typically under 35 days — before being overwritten.
Transcripts, chapters, and summaries are stored against an episode rather than a person, so they remain even after you delete your account.
8. Your rights
You can ask us for a copy of your data, ask us to correct something, or delete your account at any time. From the app: Profile → Settings → Delete account. By email: support@foundrastudio.com.
If you're in the EU or UK you have additional rights under the GDPR, including objection and the right to withdraw consent. If you're in California you have additional rights under the CCPA. Email us and we'll help you exercise them.
9. International data transfers
Podscape is operated from the United States. Your data may be processed in the US and other countries where our providers operate. Where required, we rely on standard contractual clauses or equivalent safeguards to protect that data in transit and at rest.
10. Children
Podscape is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal data from anyone under that age. If you believe a child has given us their data, email us and we'll delete it.
11. Security
We encrypt your data in transit using TLS and rely on our cloud provider's at-rest encryption for storage. Session tokens are kept in HttpOnly cookies on the web and in the system keychain on mobile. No system is perfectly secure — if we ever learn of a breach affecting your account we'll let you know.
12. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy as Podscape grows. If we make a material change we'll notify you inside the app. The current version date is shown at the top of this page.
